Psychotherapy and Ruqyah: A Holistic Approach to Healing

Understanding Psychotherapy in the Context of Ruqyah
Psychotherapy aims to alleviate a person’s suffering by addressing emotional and mental distress. In the realm of Ruqyah, psychological well-being plays a crucial role in one's resilience against spiritual disturbances, such as witchcraft and jinn afflictions.

1. The Connection Between Psychotherapy and Ruqyah

a) Mental Fragility and Spiritual Vulnerability
When a person is emotionally weakened by past suffering, they become more susceptible to spiritual attacks. In some cases, psychological difficulties may be more detrimental than the effects of witchcraft itself or may even hinder complete recovery. Alternating Ruqyah sessions with psychotherapy can significantly accelerate healing.

b) Psychological Disorders as a Jinn Trap
Certain psychological issues create a "magnetic field" in the mind, trapping jinn within a person’s psyche. Resolving the underlying mental distress weakens the jinn's hold. Complementary treatments such as Quranic recitation, herbal washes, and Hijama (cupping therapy) further diminish their influence.

c) Distinguishing Psychological and Spiritual Problems
A well-trained Raqi (spiritual healer) should be knowledgeable about mental health issues to differentiate between psychological and mystical problems. This helps in offering appropriate solutions rather than misdiagnosing purely psychological struggles as spiritual afflictions.

d) Building Inner Strength Against Spiritual Harm
Healing from past trauma through psychotherapy not only strengthens a person’s mental state but also fortifies them against future spiritual attacks. A person who has unresolved emotional distress is prone to unforeseen failures and instability, making them an easy target for jinn and witchcraft.

2. Understanding Mental Disorders
a) The Brain: A Supercomputer
The human brain records experiences—images, sounds, emotions—through complex chemical and electrical processes. Traumatic experiences are stored in a way that can trigger emotional distress when recalled, affecting reasoning and behavior.

b) Psychological Trauma and Its Effects
A traumatic event—whether physical pain or emotional shock—can create an "electromagnetic blockage" in the brain, leading to irrational fears, avoidance behaviors, and chronic distress. The brain, instead of forming logical cause-and-effect relationships, starts associating specific events with pain and danger, influencing future reactions.

c) Common Symptoms of Psychological Trauma
Direct Causes: A dog bite leads to fear of dogs; a car accident results in a fear of speed; sexual assault causes disturbances in personal relationships.
Subtle Effects: A difficult childhood may result in low self-esteem; prolonged suffering can manifest as psychosomatic illnesses, anxiety, or irrational behaviors.

3. Healing Through Psychotherapy
a) Effective Healing Techniques
A powerful technique in psychotherapy involves guiding a person to revisit traumatic events in a safe and controlled way. This allows them to relive and release the pain, breaking the cycle of fear and avoidance.

Steps to Healing:
Identify the Root Incident: The healer asks, “Can you recall an event in your life that caused you suffering?”
Narrate the Event: The individual recounts the experience, vividly reliving emotions and physical sensations.
Repetition for Emotional Release: The most painful statement (e.g., “And all the blood came out!” in a traumatic case) is repeated until emotional pain subsides.
Processing Complex Trauma: If the trauma stems from prolonged distress (e.g., a difficult childhood), the person is guided through various painful memories, gradually reducing their emotional charge.
Closure and Affirmation: The session ends with an affirmation that the pain has been processed, allowing the individual to move forward.

Example Case:
A woman traumatized by witnessing her mother’s death was guided to recall the event repeatedly until the emotional burden was lifted. In just 15 minutes, she experienced relief and a shift in perception.

b) The Role of a Healing Partner
This process is most effective with a second person who listens without judgment, helping to guide the individual through their memories and emotions. The listener must avoid comparisons, analyses, or dismissive comments like “Others have suffered worse.” The focus should be on the person’s unique pain and experience.

c) Identifying Deep-Rooted Trauma
If an incident remains emotionally charged despite multiple attempts at release, it may be linked to deeper unresolved trauma. In such cases, tracing back through a chain of painful events may be necessary to achieve full healing.

4. Psychological Strength as a Defense Against Jinn and Witchcraft
The mental and spiritual realms are closely interconnected. While jinn are not merely electromagnetic forces, unresolved trauma can create vulnerabilities that allow them to influence a person.
People who develop emotional resilience—mastering their thoughts, emotions, and environment—become significantly less affected by spiritual afflictions. Conversely, individuals with deep-seated trauma are more prone to attacks from jinn and witchcraft.
Although cases where jinn are completely trapped by psychological issues are rare, it is common for unresolved mental distress to slow down Ruqyah healing. In some cases, a person’s primary struggle is psychological rather than spiritual, with jinn merely exacerbating their distress.
In severe cases where jinn-related problems persist for years—especially from childhood—the person’s personality may become permanently affected. At this stage, professional mental health intervention may be required, though some damage may be irreversible.

Conclusion: A Balanced Approach to Healing
To achieve complete healing, a combination of Ruqyah and psychotherapy is often necessary. Addressing psychological wounds strengthens spiritual resilience, allowing individuals to reclaim control over their lives. Whether the issue is spiritual, psychological, or a combination of both, a holistic approach ensures lasting well-being and protection from harm.
