The Major Types of Black Magic (Sorcery)

Eaten Sorcery – This refers to sorcery that is ingested through food or drink, often believed to cause harm from within. It is thought that a person can be bewitched by consuming something that has been spiritually manipulated.
According to Sheikh Ben Halima, in 90% of cases, food-related sorcery manifests as digestive issues affecting the stomach or intestines. Common symptoms include burning sensations, nausea, vomiting, lumps, excessive gas, and sharp pains. These difficulties are generally permanent but may sometimes appear briefly before disappearing. While medical treatments may soothe some symptoms, such as burning, the underlying cause remains medically unexplainable.
A person experiencing persistent gastric troubles alongside symptoms of sorcery can be certain they have been affected by the eaten type of sorcery. Additionally, sorcery may sometimes be ingested accidentally—if it was intended for one person but consumed by another, the unintended victim may still suffer its effects.

Stepped-on Sorcery – This involves sorcery that is placed on the ground, such as charms, powders, or objects, which affect someone when they unknowingly step on them. This is common in traditional African and other spiritual beliefs.
stepped-on sorcery is mostly accidental. It is typically placed on the ground for a specific purpose or intended target, but an unintended victim may suffer its effects by unknowingly stepping on it.
This type of sorcery primarily affects the skin, often causing cuts, eczema, rashes, or unexplained lesions, particularly on the legs. The symptoms may shift to different parts of the body and remain medically unexplainable. In some cases, it can also lead to hair loss or weakness in the legs.

Unlike other forms of sorcery, stepped-on sorcery does not interfere with relationships, employment, or mental well-being—its effects are purely physical.

Sorcery put in the Body – This could refer to spells or objects inserted into a person’s body, either physically or spiritually. Some believe that such sorcery manifests as unexplained health issues or discomfort.
Sorcery placed in the body occurs when a sorcerer commands a jinn to implant the sorcery within a victim’s body. This type of sorcery is often used to cause infertility by targeting a woman’s ovaries or to induce impotence in men. It can also be placed in various parts of the body to cause chronic pain or dysfunction.
In some cases, sorcery is embedded within a victim specifically to prevent healing. No matter how much a healer tries to remove a jinn attached to this type of sorcery, the jinn will not leave until the sorcery itself has been neutralized or removed. If a healer is unaware of this, both the patient and the healer may suffer frustration and prolonged affliction.
Distance Sorcery – This is when sorcery is cast upon someone from afar, without physical contact. It may involve spells, incantations, or spiritual forces acting upon a person remotely.
According to Sheikh Ben Halima, distance sorcery is the most common type, but it can also be highly complex. It often involves the use of symbols placed in high locations, allowing the sorcery to dominate and envelop the victim. This causes the person to go in circles in life, never making true progress but always returning to the same point.
One of its major effects is mental distortion—it disconnects the victim from reality, making them live in an imaginary world filled with doubt, fear, indecision, and frequent mood swings. The person may experience severe headaches and disturbing dreams, such as rising to high places, falling, or being buried underground. This sorcery drains the victim’s energy, leads to restless sleep, and gives them a depressed look with a mind-set of failure.

Multiple Sorceries: The Accumulation of Sihr
What is Multiple Sorceries?
Multiple sorceries occur when a person is afflicted by more than one type of black magic at the same time. In many cases, these spells add up over time, making the victim’s suffering even more severe. If not treated, these sorceries stay for a lifetime and continue to affect the victim.
A person under multiple sorceries may experience:
✅ Chronic illnesses with no medical explanation
✅ Sudden personality changes, including anger, depression, or fear
✅ Persistent nightmares and sleep disturbances
✅ Financial losses and unexplained obstacles in life
✅ Relationship problems, constant fights, and separations

A sorcerer may continuously send sihr to a person, increasing the number of spells affecting them. If left unchecked, the victim may completely lose control over their life.

Islamic Evidence on Multiple Sorceries
Allah warns us in the Qur'an about the evil of magic and how it can cause harm:
"And from the evil of those who practice witchcraft when they blow in the knots."  (Surah Al-Falaq 113:4)
This verse highlights how sorcerers continuously send evil through knots, which is a common practice in black magic.

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ also warned about the dangers of magic, saying:
"Avoid the seven destructive sins." The companions asked, "O Messenger of Allah, what are they?" He replied, "Associating partners with Allah, sorcery, killing a soul that Allah has forbidden, consuming riba (usury), consuming an orphan's wealth, turning back in battle, and accusing chaste believing women who never think of anything improper."
(Sahih Bukhari & Muslim)

This shows that sihr is a severe sin, and those who practice it will face consequences in both this life and the Hereafter.

Serial Sorcery: Repeated Spells Over Time
What is Serial Sorcery?
Serial sorcery is when a magician or sorcerer continuously renews the spell on the victim. This means that even if a person finds relief through ruqyah or medical treatment, another spell is placed again, making them sick or troubled repeatedly.
Serial sorcery works in two ways:
1️⃣ Different spells each time – The victim recovers briefly, but soon faces new afflictions, such as falling ill after recovering or facing different misfortunes.
2️⃣ Repetition of the same spell – The same sihr is constantly renewed every time the victim finds relief. This often happens when the sorcerer has a personal grudge against the victim.

Islamic Evidence on Serial Sorcery
The Qur'an tells us how magic was used to harm Prophet Musa (Moses, peace be upon him):
"They bewitched the eyes of the people and struck terror into them and presented a great magic."
(Surah Al-A'raf 7:116)
This verse reminds us that magic can be repeatedly used to create illusions, fear, and harm.
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ himself was afflicted by sihr, and Allah revealed the cure:
"A Jewish man from Banu Zuraiq named Labeed ibn Al-A’sam performed sihr on the Prophet ﷺ, and he suffered from its effects. Jibreel came and informed him, and then the Mu’awwidhatayn (Surah Al-Falaq and Surah An-Nas) were revealed, and he was cured." (Sahih Bukhari, Hadith 3268)
This Hadith teaches us that even the Prophet ﷺ faced serial sorcery but was cured by reciting Surah Al-Falaq and Surah An-Nas.

How to Protect Yourself from Multiple and Serial Sorcery
Islam provides powerful solutions for protection and healing from sihr. The best ruqyah (spiritual healing) methods include:

 ✅ 1. Reciting the Mu’awwidhatayn (Surah Al-Falaq & Surah An-Nas)
These two chapters were revealed as protection against magic and evil. Recite them daily, especially in the morning and before sleeping.

 ✅ 2. Ayat-ul-Kursi (Surah Al-Baqarah 2:255)
The Prophet ﷺ said:
"Whoever recites Ayat-ul-Kursi at night, Allah will send an angel to protect him until morning."
(Sahih Bukhari)

 ✅ 3. Surah Al-Baqarah (2:102-103)
Reciting Surah Al-Baqarah regularly prevents the effects of sihr. The Prophet ﷺ said:
"The shaytan does not enter a house where Surah Al-Baqarah is recited."
(Sahih Muslim)

 ✅ 4. Ruqyah Water & Olive Oil
- Recite Surah Al-Fatiha, Ayat-ul-Kursi, Surah Al-Ikhlas, Surah Al-Falaq, and Surah An-Nas over water and drink it daily.
- Apply ruqyah olive oil on your body before sleeping for protection.

 ✅ 5. Seek Sincere Du'a & Tawbah
Ask Allah for protection, and repent from any sins, as sins make a person vulnerable to sihr.
"And when My servants ask you concerning Me, indeed I am near. I respond to the supplication of the supplicant when he calls upon Me."
(Surah Al-Baqarah 2:186)
